There are always full head bonding questions that need to be answered. When it comes to hair adhesive solutions and other products being used on any individual, the result that is achieved may be different than the next. This is why Pro Hair Labs are here to help you every step of the way. Below are some Frequently Asked Questions that will help you to understand some of the most common issues that are faced by users of our cosmetic bonding products on a daily basis. If you have any further full head bonding questions not covered in this FAQ, please contact us anytime.

These are some of the most common full head bonding questions asked by both technicians and home users. The truth of the matter is, body chemistry plays an important part in why this occurs. Underneath the scalp are glands called sebaceous glands. These glands secrete oil which attach to the hair follicle underneath the skin and rise up into the hair. Because there is no hair on the top of the head, the oil penetrates straight into the coat of wig adhesive on the scalp.

If you experience a yellow goo, this is due to oil from sebaceous glands penetrating your cosmetic bonding adhesive. To avoid this, when you are cleaning the scalp and prepping it for re-bonding, you must take great care that you do not trigger the sebaceous glands. Many things can affect the glands, but most commonly, citrus and alcohol cleaners used on the head can be the culprits, because these are very strong astringents.

While these products both clean the scalp and remove adhesive residue, they also extract all of the oils from the scalp and disturb the PH balance. This in turn causes the sebaceous glands to work in overdrive and 15 minutes after you have finished cleaning the scalp area, you will have oil from the glands secreting in excess amounts, trying to rebalance the PH levels. This also can cause an odor that can be very unpleasant at times.

Pro Hair Labs Ultra-Safe product was designed to help with this isssue. If you use this product instead of citrus or alcohol to clean the scalp, you will not trigger these glands. You should see a dramatic difference in holding time.

Itchy scalp is also a very common problem seen among many people who wear hair systems. Itchy scalp could be caused by a number of different things. It could be caused by the use of an invasive exfoliate, it could be dermatitis of the skin (commonly caused by citrus and alcohol constantly drying the skin) and it can also be caused by the scalp and hair system not being cleaned correctly before re-bonding.

Pro Hair Labs exfoliate Remove-All was designed as a minimally invasive exfoliate to remove dead skin cells and promote a healthy scalp. Micro-abrasions which are cause by hard, invasive exfoliates or excessive rubbing of the scalp with a towel will cause the skin to be itchy while healing. The more care you take while cleaning the scalp, the less chance of itching there will be.

All of these reasons also contribute to not getting a long term hold that you are happy with. If this is case, you must consider what products you are using and how they may be affecting the performance of your cosmetic bonding adhesive.

GhostBond™ Adhesive is a one of a kind, safety first formulation. Unlike other water based products, GhostBond™ Adhesive is designed to be more impervious to water and oil. This means that once GhostBond™ is given the chance to completely cure, it should block water, sweat and oil that can potentially penetrate its barrier. Other water-based copolymers have a tendency to revert back from a cured state to a semi-cured state, thus allowing oil and perspiration to permeate the bond, breaking it down and leaving you with a yellow goo.

Antiperspirant can help anyone, especially people with over active sebaceous glands and those who perspire excessively. Pro Hair Labs No Sweat is designed to hold back perspiration for a couple of days to give the new bond a chance to fully cure. This allows your wig adhesive to give you maximum hold and performance.

This is a very important factor in the bonding process and the hold you will get. Any individual with full head bonding questions should always be informed of the following: It is vital not to take a shower for at least 24 hours after having your cosmetic bonding adhesive applied. Even if you take a shower and do not get your hair wet, it doesn’t matter, the adhesive will still separate from the scalp.

The reason for this is the warm water causes your body temperature to rise. Because significant amounts of the body’s heat escapes through the scalp, it will very quickly penetrate through the wig adhesive and cause it to become loose. Any water based lace wig adhesive needs at least 24 hours to fully cure, no matter what type it is.

The same advice can be given to anyone who actively works out, jogs, exercises on a daily basis. You are advised to refrain from any activity that causes perspiration for at least 24 hours (one day of being a couch potato) after your hair adhesive is applied.

A lace system will retain oils and residue after being cleaned. If there are any oils left in the lace of the hair system, it will cause the lace wig adhesive, not to bond correctly. Pro Hair Labs have created a shampoo to address this issue.

Use PHL #5 Shampoo to restore the base of the unit to its original state. We recommend that you recondition and shampoo as you normally would. Put PHL #5 in a bowl and soak the unit for 2-3 minutes. This will extract the oils from the lace as well as any build up or hair spray or gels. You can then recondition the hair as you normally would, taking care not to get conditioner or oils back onto the lace.

We recommend that studios keep two hair systems for each client for a few different reasons. Firstly, it saves a lot of time. If you have a client that comes in for a service, the cleaning process can be time consuming. This can sometimes mean that corners may be cut or that the hair system will undergo excessive wear during the cleaning process.

With two hair systems in hand you can actually cut two identical systems on the same day and leave one system on the shelf for your client the next time he/she comes in for a service. It also saves the issue of a client preferring one system over another. If you cut the same duplicate system on the same day both you and your client have the comfort of knowing you will be happy with each of the systems and you will not run into any issues.

Because of costs, clients usually only want to purchase one hair system at a time, but you will find that clients will get much longer use out of each individual hair system when you have a replacement on the shelf for them. Having two identical systems also gives you a chance to completely soak each unit in citrus remover in order to ensure that you can fully remove adhesive residue from the system without any excessive rubbing of the unit which can lead to hair loss from the base.

Another very important point to remember is that a gallon of citrus remover can typically clean between 150-200 hair systems. If you are soaking a couple of units in the adhesive residue remover overnight, not only will it not affect the hair color or harm the hair unit, but the citrus remover can also be strained into another bowl to re-use to clean more units.
